Attempted assassination of Komil Allamjonov and Dmitriy Lee for $1.5 million: Chechens Rasaev and Temirkhanov placed on international wanted list in Uzbekistan

In the assassination attempt on Komil Allamjonov, who was shot at just before Uzbekistan’s parliamentary elections, new suspects have been identified.

Chechen residents Bislan Rasaev and Shamil Temirkhanov have been added to the Interpol wanted list.

Investigators say they were involved in the shooting at the SUV of Komil Allamjonov, a former senior official in the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan. The attack occurred on October 26, but both Allamjonov and his driver survived.

In addition, Rasaev and Temirkhanov are accused of involvement in preparations for an attempted assassination of Dmitriy Lee, the head of Uzbekistan’s National Agency for Perspective Projects (NAPP).

Law enforcement officials claim that Bislan Rasaev and Shamil Temirkhanov agreed to carry out a contract killing of Komil Allamjonov and Dmitriy Lee for $1.5 million.

After this, they arrived in Uzbekistan: Rasaev crossed the border illegally from Kyrgyzstan, while Temirkhanov entered through the Dostlik checkpoint.

How they left the country after the attack has not been disclosed.

Both Chechen suspects are charged under several articles of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code: they are accused of illegal possession and circulation of weapons used in the attack (Article 248), failure to report a planned crime (Article 241), and participation in its organization.

Additionally, Bislan Rasaev is charged with illegal border crossing (Article 223) and smuggling (Article 246), as investigators claim he took part in the illegal transport of items that could have been used to prepare the assassination attempt.
